Vinovate acquires sparkling specialist in major Oregon wine deal

From: Wine Industry Insider

Newberg, OR. (April. 30, 2025) — With Oregon’s sparkling wine industry in the midst of rapid growth, Vinovate Custom Wine Services is acquiring The Radiant Sparkling Wine Company, a custom winemaking company specializing in equipment and services for efficient sparkling wine production. The transaction brings together two pioneering forces to create the most robust set of resources available to Oregon producers pursuing traditional method sparkling wine.

Founded in 2013 by Andrew Davis, The Radiant Sparkling Wine Company helped launch a wave of traditional method programs across the Willamette Valley. Known for its mobile tirage and bottling services, Radiant currently works with more than 40 wineries and has helped clients craft some of the highest scoring wines in Oregon history, including the Wine Enthusiast’s 2024 #1 wine in the world. With robust demand, Radiant has been at capacity in recent years. With this acquisition, Vinovate will expand production capacity and scope of services to support a broader community of producers—from grape to sparkling wine—with both still and sparkling capabilities.

“We’re proud to build on the incredible foundation that Andrew and the Radiant team have established,” said Rob Townsend, co-founder and Executive Chair of Vinovate. “Oregon is now home to some of the best sparkling wines in the world, and this acquisition allows us to help catalyze further growth by expanding capacity and delivering the full range of producer needs—whether they are looking for custom base wine, tirage support, disgorgement or any other turnkey solutions in sparkling production.”

  • Vinovate Custom Wine Services acquires Radiant Sparkling Wine Co.

  • Radiant produces 40,000 cases of sparkling wine annually

  • Andrew Davis will consult for Vinovate for at least one year

Vinovate Custom Wine Services, a custom-crush operator in the Dundee Hills, has acquired Radiant Sparkling Wine Co., Andrew Davis' McMinnville company that has been helping dozens of wineries produce sparkling wine since 2013.

Radiant has been instrumental in elevating Willamette Valley sparkling wine, building on the early success of Argyle Winery, where Davis was mentored by Rollin Soles. The terms of the deal, which was brokered by Metis Mergers & Acquisitions, were not disclosed.

Radiant will continue operating from its McMinnville location with Davis serving as a full-time consultant for at least a year. The company has 10 employees and about 40 clients, and has grown from producing a few thousand cases initially to approximately 40,000 cases of sparkling wine annually.

Radiant's business model has been to transform still wine produced by clients into sparkling wine using the traditional method (methode champenoise). With the acquisition, clients will now be able to go from grapes to bottle under the Vinovate umbrella.

Vinovate opened in 2023, targeting high-end growers looking to turn their grapes into wine. Despite opening during a wine industry downturn, Townsend states they are "doing fine" focusing on Oregon producers making small-lot wines.

The acquisition is described as a "puzzle-piece fit" by Erik McLaughlin, CEO at Metis Merger & Acquisitions, as Vinovate provides services that Radiant doesn't offer, creating strong vertical integration.

Davis will continue as director of winemaking for Willamette Valley wine specialist Lytle-Barnett.
