Alex Whetstone

Cellar Master

Alex Whetstone is a wine production professional with experience across filtration, bottling, cellar work, and hands-on winemaking. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Alex moved to Oregon to pursue a career in the wine industry and has since built a broad base of experience working in different areas of production throughout the Willamette Valley.

Alex began his career at Cascade Wine Services, spending two years as a Crossflow Technician and gaining a strong foundation in filtration, wine stability, and quality control. From there, he spent two years with Dundee Mobile Bottlers under Joe Dobbes, where he worked on mobile bottling lines at a variety of wineries, getting exposure to different setups, teams, and production styles.

He later joined Willamette Valley Vineyards, where he spent five years and eventually moved into the role of Bottling Operations Manager. In that position, Alex focused on running bottling operations, coordinating crews, and improving efficiency and consistency on the line.

Alex is currently the Cellarmaster at Vinovate, bringing together his experience in filtration, bottling, and cellar operations, along with a strong interest in enology and practical, detail-oriented winemaking.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys backcountry backpacking, traveling, music festivals, and continuing to learn more about winemaking and fermentation science.
